Outdoor Women's Alliance

You knew we wouldn't have a Banff Mountain Festival week without a little celebration in the form of a giveaway, right? Especially for our readers, Banff has donated a this sweet little piece of headwear from Outdoor Research (OR): the Radar Pocket Cap. It's pretty unique in its design. From the OR site:

Function lies at the heart of this street-styled cap. It will shield you from the sun with UPF 30 sun protection, keep you dry with the TransAction headband, and store away in your pocket with the help of the folding bill.

Did you catch that? It folds up into your pocket. Great for backpacking and other summer activities- which are on their way so get gearing up! And! It's one of a kind since it's got a cute little Banff logo on the side. Win!

How to win:

You've got all the info you need here on the site. Starting with Day 1 and going through yesterday's post, leave a comment here saying which of the Banff Film Festival/Workshops we featured piqued your interest the most & tell us why - how does it inspire you or in the case of the workshops- what dreams do you aspire to? One entry per person with this method, but...

We love social media. We hope you love it, too.  Tweet about the contest for an extra entry, and include @womenoutdoors (our twitter handle) so we catch it. Want more? Like us on our (brand-new!!) Facebook page and leave us a comment. We want to hear from you!

  1. This is an incredible site! I remember when I was a little girl and wanted to climb a tree and my sister told me I was too "sophisticated" and my brother told me I was too "girlie". Women have certainly held their own platform and "come a long way, Baby"! A novel idea - can be feminine, outdoorsy and adventuresome - wow!

I think the adventure film-making workshop would be really cool. I don't have ton of time to think or do any film-making in my current lifestyle (grad student), but I was really into it when I was younger and I would love to be able to incorporate more film into my climbing trips for my blog, and as a way to remember the great experiences of my climbing trips.

  3. My top two favourite films were Swiss Machine and Asgard Project. The best part of Swiss Machine is when they start playing the soundtrack as he finishes his climb and runs across the knife ridge. Whenever I hear that song now it gets me excited to go climb. I liked the Asgard Project because it was such an awe-inspiring location and it was in Canada! Nice to see what type of big expeditions can be done without leaving the country :)
